Apply to Fly

Presently, HFLI is accepting applications from veterans who have received an honorable discharge prior to the designated end of the Vietnam War, May 7, 1975. Sometime in the future, HFLI will include those discharged after May 7, 1975, but that time has not yet come. We do make an exception for any terminally ill veteran. This veteran, no matter when he/she served, is given our highest priority.

An American flag and your Veteran’s photo will be placed in front of their memorial and a photo will be taken. After the mission returns, the Veteran’s family will then be presented with the photo of their veteran and the American flag that was escorted to Washington, DC.

Veterans must complete and submit an application to participate by clicking on the tab below. Veterans are then called on a first-come-first-served basis so we encourage all to submit an application. Veterans not able to participate on one flight remain on the list and are called for the next scheduled trip.

Our volunteer "Guardians" must also complete an application, by clicking on the tab below and must pay their own way, an expense of $400.  Guardians escort the veterans on the aircraft, accompany them throughout the day and make sure our veterans have everything they need for a memorable experience.
